How to Register a Binance Account

For many people, getting into cryptocurrency starts with signing up for an exchange account. Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange by trading volume, is naturally the first choice for most beginners. Yet plenty of newcomers get stuck at the registration stage — the page won't load, verification codes never arrive, or they're unsure what to fill in. This guide breaks the entire signup process into clear, manageable steps.

What You Need Before Signing Up

Before you begin, make sure you have the following ready:

  • A working email address (Gmail or Outlook recommended; some local email providers occasionally fail to receive verification codes)
  • A mobile phone (for receiving SMS verification codes or installing the app)
  • A stable internet connection (if you're in mainland China, ensure you can access international websites)
  • An ID card or passport (required later for identity verification, not needed during registration)

Once you're set, let's get started.

Step 1: Open the Binance Website

Go to the Binance official site to access the registration page. This link includes a referral code, so you'll automatically receive a permanent discount on trading fees — no need to hunt for a separate referral code.

If you prefer using your phone, you can download the Binance App first and complete the registration directly in the app. The process is exactly the same.

Step 2: Choose a Registration Method

Binance offers two ways to sign up:

Email registration: Enter your email address on the registration page and set a password. The password must be at least 8 characters long and include uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers. Avoid reusing passwords from other websites.

Phone registration: Select your country code (e.g., +86 for mainland China), enter your phone number, and set a password.

There's no fundamental difference between the two methods — just pick whichever is more convenient. Personally, I recommend email because it offers more flexibility for security settings and won't be affected if you change your phone number.

Step 3: Complete the CAPTCHA

After clicking "Register," a puzzle CAPTCHA will appear. Simply drag the slider to align the puzzle piece with the gap. This step is straightforward — it's just there to prevent bot registrations.

If the puzzle fails to load or you keep failing the verification, try switching to a different browser. Chrome and Edge tend to have the best compatibility.

Step 4: Enter the Verification Code

After the CAPTCHA, Binance will send a 6-digit verification code to your email or phone. A few things to keep in mind:

  1. The code is typically valid for 30 minutes — no rush, but don't wait too long
  2. If you haven't received it, check your spam or junk folder first
  3. Wait at least 60 seconds before clicking "Resend"
  4. If email verification codes repeatedly fail to arrive, try switching to phone registration

Once you enter the correct code, your Binance account is successfully created.

Step 5: Set Up Basic Security

After registration, Binance will guide you through some basic security settings. It's strongly recommended that you complete the following right away:

Enable Google Authenticator: This is the most important security measure. Download "Google Authenticator" from your phone's app store, then go to Binance's security settings and scan the QR code to link it. You'll need to enter a dynamic code from the authenticator every time you log in or withdraw funds. Even if someone knows your password, they won't be able to access your account.

Set up an anti-phishing code: In the security settings, find "Anti-Phishing Code" and set a memorable phrase. Every official email from Binance will include this phrase, helping you identify legitimate emails from fakes.

Link your phone number (if you registered with email): Adding another layer of verification means an extra layer of protection.

Step 6: Complete Identity Verification

While you can browse market data after registration, you'll need to complete identity verification (KYC) before you can trade or make deposits and withdrawals. Find the "Identity Verification" section in the app or on the website:

  1. Select your nationality
  2. Enter your real name and ID number
  3. Upload photos of both sides of your ID
  4. Complete facial recognition

The entire verification process typically takes anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. When taking photos, make sure lighting is good, the ID information is clear, and nothing is obstructing the document.

Common Registration Issues

Q: What if I see "This region is not available"? Check your network environment. If you're using a proxy tool, make sure the node isn't in a region restricted by Binance.

Q: Email verification code never arrives?

  • Check your spam/junk folder
  • Confirm your email address has no typos
  • Try a different email provider
  • Wait a few minutes and resend

Q: I entered the wrong email during registration — what now? You can change your email after registration through the security settings. You'll need to verify the original email first.

Q: Can one person register multiple accounts? No. Binance's policy allows only one account per person, which is checked during identity verification. If multiple accounts are detected, they may be frozen.

What to Do After Registration

Once your account is set up and identity verification is approved, you can:

  • Buy USDT with local currency through P2P trading
  • Deposit crypto from other wallets to Binance
  • Start spot trading for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and more

Take some time to explore the trading interface — browse the market pages and get familiar with where everything is. There's no rush to invest large amounts. Start small, learn the buy-and-sell process, and scale up once you're comfortable.

The entire registration process isn't complicated — most people can finish it in under 10 minutes. The key is to set up proper security measures and protect your account.
